Description: The Tumwater City Council is considering authorizing a Mayor’s letter supporting the Salish Landing / BAR Holdings UGA swap. If approved, this letter would represent “Mayor and City Council support” for keeping this proposal moving forward.
This project would push growth outward, increase long-term city infrastructure costs, and make housing less affordable by placing new development in an auto-dependent location outside effective transit service.
Provide public comment and urge council to pull this item from consent and reject sprawl. Even a short comment matters.
Key issues to focus on:
-
Housing affordability = housing cost + transportation cost (Learn more here)
-
Growth does NOT pay for growth when cities must extend sewer, water, roads, schools, parks, and services
-
City budgets are already stretched
-
Tumwater should prioritize infill, walkable, transit-served areas, not sprawl
-
Over 400 residents have already signed a petition opposing this proposal
What to bring:
Your voice. Your concern for affordability. Your belief that Tumwater should grow smarter, not farther. Please invite friends and neighbors and share this event.
